The Path to Your First Session
Before You Arrive
Once you schedule, you'll receive a link to a secure client portal. Please complete the intake paperwork and privacy agreements ahead of time so we can focus entirely on your needs during our hour together.
The First Meeting
The intake appointment focuses on building rapport, discussing symptoms, stressors and goals, and learning a bit about your history. You are in control of how much you choose to share or not share; my role is to provide a non-judgmental space and container for whatever you're bringing to the session.
Moving Forward
By the end of the first session, we'll outline a plan for frequency of sessions and potential treatment goals. Whether we meet weekly or bi-weekly, therapy is a collaborative process where we are able to continuously adjust to support your treatment goals.
Common Questions
Do you offer a free consultation?
Yes, I offer a free 15-minute phone or video consultation. This allows us to briefly connect, discuss your goals, and see if my approach feels like a helpful fit for your needs. Feel free to reach out via my contact form.
What is trauma-informed care?
It means that the core of my work with individuals, as well as organizational practices, are operating with an understanding of trauma and adversity. There is an acknowledgement and understanding that past adverse experiences may have a broader impact on your emotional, mental and physical well being. With a trauma-informed approach, I have insight into how stress and trauma impact the brain and body, and we go at a pace that respects your nervous system. Do you see neurodivergent clients?
Absolutely. I aim to provide an affirming space for individuals with ADHD/ADD, Autism, and others who process the world differently. Often the goals I work on with clients focus on self-trust rather than compliance or masking. If you are navigating OCD, we can discuss if my approach to therapy may be appropriate for you or if it may be best suited to a specific ERP (Exposure Response and Prevention) therapist.
Is therapy confidential?
Yes. Your privacy is protected by law and professional ethics. There are very limited exceptions (such as immediate safety concerns) which we will discuss clearly during our first session.
