Zoey Erixon (she/they)
Feeling connected to your inner self is a true gift. Therapy can help uncover the internal and external stressors that stand in the way of authentic connection—both with yourself and others. Whether you’ve experienced trauma, loss, unexpected change, or feel weighed down by shame, sadness, overwhelm, or anxiety, compassionate support is available.
In my practice, you are seen as the expert on your own life. Therapy offers space to be heard, explore your sense of self and identity, and make meaning of your experiences. Together, we work to clear a path forward so you can reconnect with yourself and move toward healing. For many neurodivergent people, this process can also include gently unmasking and rebuilding self-trust.
I am a Licensed Independent Social Worker and Certified Drug and Alcohol Counselor in the state of Iowa. My therapeutic approach is eclectic, drawing from evidence-based therapies such as psychodynamic, attachment-focused, relational-cultural, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), motivational interviewing, and feminist therapies. I work with teens and adults and prioritize Health at Every Size (HAES) principles and gender-affirming care.
I believe that the heart of therapy lies in creating a trusting relationship between client and therapist. I honor the therapeutic alliance and process, and I hope to offer a meaningful and transformative experience in our work together.

What is Trauma-Informed Therapy?
Trauma-informed therapy often unfolds gradually. Early sessions focus on understanding your goals, what brings you into therapy, and learning about how stressful experiences can affect the mind and body. This stage may also include developing self-regulation and relaxation tools that can be used in daily life.
As therapy progresses, we may explore experiences, patterns, and beliefs that shape how you relate to yourself and others. Approaches such as narrative therapy or EMDR can support the processing of past or current stressors. Over time, many individuals develop a sense of greater clarity, resilience, and self-compassion through trauma-informed therapy.

I accept the following insurance plans: Wellmark Blue Cross Blue Shield, HealthPartners, Iowa Total Care, Wellpoint/Amerigroup, Aetna, Cigna, and Midlands Choice. I also accept Self Pay.
